Horner Farm
Farm, food and events.
Exmoor Lamb – We farm in the Porlock Vale working with nature to ensure biodiversity across the farm is
being rebuilt, building a healthy environment for all, while producing a delicious nutritious product. We keep native breed ewes, this ensures our lambs grow at their own speed resulting in a perfect balance of flavour, fat, and
tenderness. Our sheep graze regenerativelymanaged pasture ensuring they stay healthy with
low chemical inputs. This means we reduce our need for antibiotics, wormers, and feed inputs.
We use a small local abattoir and butcher ensuring the lambs’ welfare is maintained throughout.

Interested in giving something back to a sport you love, or just have some free time? We are always looking for more volunteers to join the tribe!

Combe Martin is also nearby, while the larger towns of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple are within a 40 minute drive. Other places of interest include Porlock to the east and the traditional cobbled fishing village of Clovelly to the west.
Chauffeur’s and Gardener’s Cottages each accommodate two people and Gamekeeper’s accommodates up to four (two person special rates). All cottages have central heating; Chauffeur’s and Gardener’s cottages also have wood burning stoves. There is a laundry room and all linen and towels are supplied. The Anchor Inn
In August 2019, Fif and Ann Buckingham took over The Anchor Inn, Hartland. The hotel had been neglected for many years and was in a parlous state; comprehensive rebuilding and redecoration were required before guests could be welcomed back to this 16th Century inn, with its pub, hotel and restaurant. At the rear of the pub is a car park and a south-facing sun-terrace with lovely rural views.
In the well-equipped bar, a comprehensive range of real ales, lagers, ciders, wines and spirits is available, along with a free pool table (considered to be one of the best in the North Devon Pool League), a dart board and an extensive variety of board games. The Anchor is a member of CAMRA, the campaign for real ale.
The bar features both a Boudoir Grand and an upright piano, together with a selection of guitars and a mandolin; impromptu performances by budding or experienced musicians are welcome, alongside our programme of live music events.
The Anchor provides both free WiFi and free charging for your mobile devices and is pet-friendly. Bar opening hours are Monday to Friday: 11:00 to Late, Saturday: 11:00 to Late, and Sunday: 11:00 to 22:30
The restaurant offers fine food in a comfortable, congenial atmosphere, with a wide choice of vegetarian and vegan options always available. Restaurant Opening hours are Monday to Saturday: Lunch 12:00 to 14:30, Dinner 18:00 to 20:30, Sunday roast dinners: 12:00 to 14:30 and 18:00 to 20:30.
The hotel offers nine superbly appointed rooms with en-suite shower. All rooms have TV, Wi-Fi and internet access, with free device charging points.
Attached to The Anchor is The Crow’s Nest, a luxuriously appointed self-catering apartment with its own separate access; it is dog-friendly making it the ideal holiday destination for pet owners.
Located in the village of Hartland, North Devon, about 3 miles from Hartland Point, The Anchor is a popular location for walkers, providing convenient access to The South West Coast Path, spectacular scenery, shady lanes, ancient woodlands, sheltered footpaths, traditional bridleways and wild moorland (nearby Bursdon Moor is a SSSI). Both Exmoor and Dartmoor are accessible from Hartland and public transport is available; please see our website for local information.
Due to its location and lack of both noise and light pollution, Hartland has often been used as a film location, the bar in The Anchor was itself used in the award-winning BBC series The Night Manager.

Exmoor Blueberries and Camping
Blueberries and Camping
The Keily family planted their thousands of blueberries back in 2006, after realising that the wild ‘wortleberries’ that used to grow in abundance on the moor, were cousins of the blueberry. The farm is at high altitude, near Dunkery Beacon, and the soil is the perfect ph level for these yummy plants. This, combined with the freshest air and purest water, makes our blueberries truly special.
Believing in a natural approach, the plants have been left to their own devices, cross pollinating across the nine plant varieties using bumblebees and butterflies, and the fields are home to all sorts of wildlife which have helped them thrive. All you need to do is come and enjoy it!
As well as blueberry picking (PYO), we offer a ‘wild’ camping experience so you can enjoy our corner of the natural world including the most beautiful clear stars! We’re located in the centre of the International Dark Sky Reserve under som eof the darkest skies in the country – it’s a great location for stargazing.
