About this business:
Boeveys Tearoom
The Lyn Valley News team managed to catch up with Claire and Louise, the dynamic duo behind the newly reopened Boevey’s Tearoom, nestled in the heart of Exmoor National Park.
Their journey into the world of tearooms stemmed from a shared dream and an instant connection with the location.
“We both had the same ambition to own our own tearoom,” they said. “When we stumbled across Boevey’s, we fell in love with it.” With their shared vision, they knew they could introduce those all-important little touches that often go missing.
Choosing Simonsbath as their base wasn’t just by chance. “What is there not to love about Exmoor and its surroundings?” they enthused, clearly smitten by the lush landscape and the warmth of the community.
Boevey’s is renowned for its homemade Lemon
Drizzle cake and a range of heartwarming dishes, such as the Bacon, Brie, and Cranberry Panini, and the comforting All Day Breakfast. “Our homemade Lemon Drizzle is the most popular cake” they highlight, a testament to the care and passion baked into each slice.
The atmosphere within Boevey’s mirrors the community it serves – quaint, pretty, and incredibly welcoming. Decorated with flowered tablecloths and serving beverages in traditional china cups and teapots, the tearoom offers a slice of nostalgia with a dash of homely warmth.
A core part of their offering is the commitment to local produce, featuring Exmoor Teas, Dunster Coffee, Exmoor Ales

and Ciders, Cornish lager, and Besshill Sausages. “We use local ingredients, and this choice not only supports our community but also ensures fresh and high-quality offerings for our guests, ” they explain.
Community engagement and creating memorable experiences lie at the heart of Boevey’s ethos. From lunch on the hoof for a group of horse riders to welcoming motorcyclists for bacon baps, each story underscores the tearoom’s role as a cherished gathering spot. “Overall, the community has been incredibly welcoming and grateful that the tearoom is open
again,” they reflect, emphasising the mutual affection
between Boevey’s and its visitors.
Seasonal variations see the tearoom adapt its menu and ambiance, with offerings like quiche and soup reflecting the time of year. The upcoming addition of an ice cream freezer and a range of vegan and gluten-free cakes suggests a constant desire to innovate and
cater for all tastes.
When asked about what makes Boevey’s special, Claire and Louise point to their dedication to keeping things homemade, traditional, and welcoming for everyone. “All our menu is cooked fresh… having the bone china and loose tea keeps the tearoom traditional, ” they say, emphasising their aim to cater for all dietary requirements and go above and beyond for their customers.
As for the future, Boevey’s Tearoom is looking forward to continuing to serve the community, bringing in new and exciting developments. With their commitment to quality, hospitality, and the little touches that make a big difference, Claire and Louise have created more than just a tearoom; they’ve established a heartwarming haven for all
